31 Day Blog Challenge

I may seem boring to most or I may seem interesting to some. Life can be emotional, stressful, and sometimes just plain crazy. My goal with this blog is to share my life, thoughts, and past. In hopes that some may be able to relate, understand, or just want to read.

I’m currently a stay-at-home-mom of a hyper and loving four-year-old. As well as, expecting my second in June (a little girl) and a part time student in a community college. I’m not an English major, so you will see grammatical errors. Just a fair warning.

That’s the life of me that people now see. Six years ago, I was a completely different person. I made choices I’m not proud of, a lot of them I’m ashamed of. It’s taken years for me to become the person I am today and it makes me damn proud to say I’ve come this far.

When you make these not-so-great choices (especially in high-school), your business becomes everyone else’s. On top of losing friends, gaining enemies, and feeling worthless. The worst part is, sometimes those bad choices continue to make you feel better than trying to better yourself.

I learned that only you can judge yourself to the point of wanting to change. Being judged by others doesn’t always make you want to change, sometimes it makes you want to disappear and fall off the face of the earth. Girls cut deep with judgement and they’re more about bringing others down.

The past tends to get me rambling. I go off on rants and feel like a therapist sometimes. I’m thankful for people that have given me second chances, especially those that can see I’ve changed. And for those who haven’t, I can’t say I blame you but I’m sorry if my life choices changed your outlook on me.

My favorite quote from The Lion King, ” Ah yes, the past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it or learn from it.”

Pinterest Win

My son and I actually managed to not have a Pinterest Fail. We were both very excited to make a grow with me tee.

I wanted to make one instead of buy for a few reasons.

  1. It’s cheaper
  2. Kids LOVE crafts and projects (well mine does)
  3. Homemade things are filled with memories

All I had to buy was a package of men’s large t-shirts, washable paint, paint brushes and fabric markers. I know I only needed one shirt for the job BUT my boyfriend wears the white larges and it was a win-win situation. PLUS my son LOVES to paint, so buying multiple colors of paint and paint brushes was also a WIN.

I may be trying a few other Pinterest ideas.

But in the mean time I’ll be doing homework, nursing my daughter and drinking coffee.

Coffee for the win.

Homemade Baby Food

Last year I decided I wanted to start gardening. If you know me, that’s pretty huge because I usually can’t keep plants alive. I’ve never really had a green thumb.

After a successful garden last year, I then decided I wanted to make Callie’s baby food. I recently started using the amazing baby bullet we received at our baby shower. It’s wonderful.

So far, I’ve made yellow squash and zucchini. Both with breastmilk instead of water to make the consistency more smooth and the food more nutritious. She’s a few months away from being able to try her yummy foods so I started freezing them.

I did use the tray the bullet came with and ice cube trays as well. I found the ice cube trays to be more convenient because they’re smaller and once the food is frozen, I just pop them into a freezer bag and label them. Also, it’ll be easier to mix the foods because they’re in such small portions. (an awesome tip from a friend)

Parent Fun

When I used to picture myself at the age of 21, I didn’t see much of what my life is actually like. I pictured more friends, college, parties, and fun.

My life, is well the life of a mom. I cook, clean, garden, and shower when I can; that sort of thing. I have mom fun. Like finding new movies to watch on Netflix with my four year old and making cooing sounds with my 2.5 month old.

My other half and I occasionally have “parent fun”. Which consists of a couple hours to ourselves or with friends, because we are only 21 and are still kids at heart. Every parent needs that time. If not, well you’re going to be boring and your relationship might go down the drain.

Parents need to have time together because without you two, your relationship, and your love; your beautiful children probably wouldn’t exist. So spend the alone or going out time to remember why you fell in love. Fall in love with your partner all over again.

I never knew it was possible to fall in love with someone multiple times, over and over again. Usually it’s the little things, the things that tend to go unnoticed. Cherish those moments.

We had some parent fun (for a few hours) and went to the fair. It wasn’t much but it was fun to feel 21 again. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in the week that we forget we are still young and can still have fun (besides sleeping in).

Pinterest Wanna-Be

I’m one of those people that absolutely love Pinterest. I love the idea of it, the whole 9 yards.

BUT.. I’m a “wanna-be”. I’ve pinned so many things, I don’t even remember pinning but at the time I found them amazing and SO cool.

I’ve pinned crafty things for the kids, awesome remodeling ideas, diy’s for the WHOLE house, super cute outfits, budgeting money, and some super tasty recipes.

Normal right?! Yet, I’ve maybe put a few of those saved pins to good use. A few yummy recipes and some hair ideas to bring to my hairdresser. As I sit here, while my daughter takes a nap. I wonder why on earth do I pin all these “super cool things” if I never put them to good use??

I personally think it’s because I want to be that totally equipped mom that looks like she totally has her shit together. The one that can do-it-all and still look fabulous. But in all reality, I’m not.

Like today, I did laundry and the dishes. Felt like a damn super-mom. I haven’t even put on pants today, why? Because NOBODY cares what I look like in my own home. If I’m home, I’m gonna be a damn bum. No doubt about it.

I’ve come to the realization that I’m not going to be that mom that looks like she has her shit together, because I’m still processing the idea that I’m a freaking mom to two beautiful babies.

Mom-ing doesn’t come with a manual. There’s no right or wrong way to parent, there’s your own way.

So if I want to sit home without pants, I’m gonna.

If I want to feed my four year old chicken nuggets or frozen pizza, it’s gonna happen.

I’m definitely not a super mom that diy’s everything and looks 100% anywhere I go.

Damn Pinterest. You make everything look SO EASY.

Plexus & Breastfeeding

My daughter is now five weeks old and breastfed. I pump every day and freeze my milk because I will be going to the school in the fall and still want her to continue to get breastmilk. At first when I started pumping I was only getting an ounce or so. Then a week or so would pass and I could pump 2 ounces. I started drinking the Plexus Slim Drink and I can now pump anywhere from 3-5 ounces out of just one boob. If any of you have pumped, you will know this excitement I am feeling. Plexus offers different trial packs with some combos or just the Slim. Some people are skeptical about trying a new product, but I highly recommend this for your supply, your baby, and your health altogether!

Mom & School Life

Life with a newborn and a four year old is anything but boring. Add online schooling and housework and it’s a little hectic. But I’d rather being getting daily tasks done than feeling like I didn’t get any closer to my life goals at the end of the day.

Goals keep us motivated and also that satisfied accomplished feeling when you get something done you’ve always wanted to. Or just being able to sneak in a shower once the baby is sleeping and my son is either content or sleeping as well. Showering has become a task too, along with housework and schooling.

Our little girl is definitely a boob baby and loves to nurse! (no complaints) I’m just not used to this because my son had to be bottle fed. Breastfeeding is an experience on its own. Sometimes you cry and other times you smile, sometimes the two combine and you find yourself so happy you’re crying. Gotta love those amazing hormones. (LOL)

Plexus has kept me a little more sane I think. It’s something to look forward to drinking in the morning and feeling better throughout the day. Some people look forward to their morning coffee or tea, I look forward to drinking my Plexus Slim.

School has been going as good as it gets. It’s stressful, even doing it from your own living room. But the thought of finishing definitely keeps me motivated. Also, the thought of getting my degree completed and finding a job that I will actually enjoy on a day to day basis.

Well, that’s what’s going on in my life.
